Elon Musk’s America Super PAC has pumped almost $170 million into federal elections this year, spending $95.2 million for Republicans and $73.9 million against Democrats. While most of the focus has been on his PAC’s involvement in the presidential race, the America Super PAC has also spent significant amounts on congressional races, including the 7th District race between Democrat Sue Altman and Republican incumbent Tom Kean in New Jersey.

The 7th District includes all of Hunterdon and Warren counties and parts of Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Union counties.

According to public data available as of election day from Open Secrets, the Musk PAC’s spending against Altman ranks third among all its spending against Democratic congressional candidates. The PAC has spent $608,523 on the campaign against Altman. The only two other Democrats it has spent more money opposing are Mondaire Jones of New York ($789,758) and Will Rollins of California ($655,410).

Kean ranks second in terms of spending in support of a congressional candidate by Musk’s America Super PAC. The PAC has spent $940,808 in support of Kean. The only congressional candidate it has spent more to support is Republican Ken Calvert, with $944,490 spent on his campaign.

In addition to Musk’s contributions, the America Super PAC has been funded by private equity and investment firms including Valor Equity Partners, Sequoia Capital, Alliance Resource Capital, Betsy and Susan DeVos, and Winklevoss Capital Management, a family investment firm founded by the crypto tycoon Winklevoss twins, who each donated $1 million to Trump’s campaign.

Outside Groups Spending Overall in the Race

Overall, outside groups have pumped more than double the amount of money into the race against Altman compared with Kean.

Musk’s PAC, the Republican Congressional Leadership PAC, and the Jersey Real PAC have contributed a total of $7,517,279 so far on the ad blitz against Altman. In contrast, outside groups have spent $2,997,056 on the campaign against Kean.

In terms of spending in support of a candidate, outside groups have spent $1,763,459 in support of Altman and $1,219,946 in support of Kean.
