The Jersey Vindicator is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization that seeks to advance accountability, spotlight truth, and spark solutions to problems facing the Garden State. We seek to educate, engage, and empower readers with the information and analysis necessary for them to advocate for a more transparent and just government that is accountable to the public. We subscribe to the standards of editorial independence adopted by the Institute for Nonprofit News, a network of more than 425 nonprofit newsrooms dedicated to high-quality journalism and public service.
We report our stories without fear or favor, retaining full authority over editorial content to protect the best journalistic and business interests of The Jersey Vindicator.
We maintain a firewall between news coverage decisions and all of our revenue sources. Any acceptance of financial support does not constitute the implied or actual endorsement of donors or their products, services, or opinions.
We accept gifts, grants, and sponsorships from individuals and organizations for the general support of our activities, but our news judgment remains independent. None of our editorial decisions are made on the basis of financial support.
The Jersey Vindicator may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics, but we maintain editorial control over all coverage. We do not allow donors or their surrogates the rights to assign, review, edit, or influence our editorial content. Our news judgments are made independently – not based on or influenced by donors.
Our organization will make public all donors who support us with a total of $5,000 or more per year. We will accept anonymous donations for general support only if sufficient safeguards are in place to ensure that the expenditure of the donation is made independently by our organization and in compliance with Institute for Nonprofit News membership standards.
