Help us reach our end-of-year fundraising goal and support more investigative reporting in N.J.
There are only a few days left in our end-of-year fundraising campaign. During this campaign, your donation is matched as part of a national campaign for nonprofit journalism called NewsMatch. Every donation to The Jersey Vindicator up to a total of $15,000 in donations will be matched through Dec. 31. All donations are tax-deductible.
Even better, thanks to the generosity of The New Jersey Civic Information Consortium, The Jersey Vindicator has received another $5,000 as a match, meaning the next $5,000 in donations will be tripled. This is in addition to a previous match of $3,000 from the Independence Public Media Foundation and a $1,000 match from the Knight Foundation.
Your support will be used to pay for more original investigative and accountability reporting and our new County Chroniclers program to document county commission meetings across the state.
As an independent nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization, we don’t have any shareholders. This allows us to pursue high-quality, in-depth journalism without being beholden to private profits or corporate ownership. And we have no paywalls to gate-keep our reporting. It also means that we rely on you to support this meaningful work.
We launched in the fall, aiming to report stories no other outlet in the state is covering. Our mission is to tell stories about how government functions in the state, with the goal of sparking change that improves the lives of residents. We are working hard to understand the information needs of residents and were selected to be participants of the Google News Initiative startup lab to help us build a stronger foundation for our work and build a sustainable news organization. As such a new organization, we are $6,800 from reaching our goal.
Will you do your part to power the type of news that builds a stronger state and help us reach our goal?
Donors who support us with a gift of $100 a year or $10 a month will become part of our Local News Champions founding members group. Founding members will be able to join a few members-only Zoom meetings in 2024.
Supporters who donate or pledge $1,000 or more will be part of our Vindicator Circle. You will be invited to one Vindicator Circle member event online in 2024 to discuss what we are up to at The Jersey Vindicator, and one in-person event for Circle members, as well as being invited to all Local News Champion events.
Please contact us if you have questions or want more information. If you prefer to write a check, make the check out to The Tiny News Collective (our fiscal sponsor until we receive our IRS approval. Write “Jersey Vindicator” on the memo line). Mail the check to: P.O. Box 423, Princeton, NJ 08542. Thank you for your support.
