Editor’s note – Photojournalist Andres Kudacki was outside the gates of the Delaney Hall ICE detention center and the ICE office in Newark on Friday, May 9, for more than seven hours documenting the events that unfolded. That morning, The Jersey Vindicator had been invited to attend a press conference by U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman’s office. The press conference was slated to take place after she and other members of Congress conducted an oversight tour of the facility. Following is the timeline of what happened that afternoon and evening, in photos. Timeline created by Krystal Knapp.

U.S Reps. LaMonica McIver, Rob Menendez, and Bonnie Watson Coleman are already inside the facility in Newark waiting to take an oversight tour. They arrived around 1 p.m. and are waiting in a holding room for more than an hour.
